George Takei on Akira

I really can't add anything to Mr. Takei's words. Please give this a listen. The man knows what he's talking about.

  1. Very good interview. I'm glad to hear WB has agreed to meet with them, and I'm waiting to see how things play out.

  2. I think making a live-action film out of any kind of authentic Japanese anime/manga comics is pretty retarded. My opinion is, if AA's are not bankable, don't even do it then. Leave it alone. The creation just becomes 'tainted'. Otherwise, Katsuhiro Otomo better be compensated damn well if 'they' are compelled to do this lol. Not a surprise I suppose, since they seem to be running out of ideas that are actually good anyway. Not that there has been one recently.

  3. I think what annoys me the most is that whenever stuff like this happens people say, "It's just a movie," and "it shouldn't matter." Well, Denzel Washington will never play Abraham Lincoln no matter how brilliant an actor he is. Why? Because it would look ridiculous. Then again they're appealing to an audience whose brain melts whenever they see a subtitle.
