Another 4th of July goes by and again I'm reminded of all the things I'd like to see change. I think that's why I love watching fireworks and things blowing up on the 4th to take my mind of of it.
I get real tired of all the self-congratulatory stories and speeches on July 4th. Thanks for a 'toon that reflects the (often painfully slow) progressive adoption of ideals, which is the only true reason to celebrate. Too many seem to believe that it is a nation which should be honored on this date, and too many more think that the ideal of the elevation of the human above the political institution has already been achieved. Thank you for the reminder that the work is only begun.
